The Prog Mill 435 – 15 September 2024
Edition 435 of THE PROG MILL for Progzilla Radio (655 in total), first broadcast 15 September 2024, is now available to listen to anytime or download as a mp3 file to your device.
This week I’m joined by Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington of The Blackheart Orchestra who chat about their new music and tour. Leo Trimming from The Progressive Aspect is here to review ‘Time Voyager’ by Barock Project, and our fun proggy quiz invites you to identify five currently active female prog singers by hearing a few seconds of each. All part of two hours of superb melodic & symphonic progressive rock.
You can hear The Prog Mill on Progzilla Radio at these times every week (www.progzilla.com/listen – via the tune in and other internet radio apps and platforms – or ask your smart speaker to “Play Radio Progzilla on Tune-In”)
Sundays 10pm – Midnight UK (2100UTC, 2300 Europe, 2pm Pacific US, 5pm East Coast US) main broadcast
Saturday Replay – 6pm – 8pm UK (1700 UTC/1900 Europe, 10am Pacific/1pm Eastern).
Plus: A podcast of the show which you can stream anytime or download as a mp3 file is normally online by Monday evening each week, with links here and at progzilla.com/podcasts

Shaun has been a radio presenter since 1982, starting in pirate radio broadcasting across Europe from an aerial strung between trees in the forests of Staffordshire. Soon after, he became a regular presenter and member of the management team at Hospital Radio Stafford, staying there for 32 years and receiving long service awards. Shaun also worked extensively in local community radio in Staffordshire on several stations including Stafford FM, Stone FM, Chase FM and Smart Radio.
When Stafford Radio, an online community radio station started broadcasting from a 220 year old windmill in 2011, Shaun began presenting 'The Prog Mill' (the name inspired by the station's unique base). Stafford Radio became Windmill Radio before closing in 2016, when 'The Prog Mill' became part of Progzilla Radio.
The Prog Mill leans towards the melodic and symphonic side of progressive rock, and includes regular album reviews from our friends at The Progressive Aspect, CD Giveaways, and a regular fun quickfire quiz. Your music suggestions for the show are very welcome at shaun@progzilla.com or via facebook.com/theprogmill or twitter (X) @shaunontheair
