I began playing music in third grade, starting violin at age 10, and by 1974, after winning several medals in high school, I earned a full scholarship for orchestral playing. During this time, I became captivated by the "underground" music movement, listening to artists like Cream, Hendrix, and Moody Blues. My love for progressive music began when I discovered groups like ELP, Yes, and King Crimson, and I eventually changed my college major from violin to composition, earning my BA in Music in 1979. However, my passion for exploring the meaning of "progressive" music soon overshadowed my composing. In 1978, I started my radio broadcasting career at KUOR, where I quickly began hosting progressive music shows and became Program Director within a year. The latest version of The PM Show is my labor of love, showcasing progressive music with seamless transitions between tracks, creating an immersive listening experience. Each show takes over eight hours to produce, with more than 375 groups featured so far. I aim to bring a professional touch to every broadcast, and I hope listeners enjoy the experience as much as I enjoy creating it.
